The microtex needle is always used when fine or densely woven fabrics are being woven. The microtex needle has a particularly sharp and slim tip. It should be used primarily for fine, dense fabrics such as silk, lining fabrics or viscose, but also for coated materials. For example, softshell, oilcloth, foils and artificial leather.

When it comes to the question of needle thickness, there is a very simple rule of thumb that you can follow: the thickness of the needle should match the thickness of the fabric. Thin fabrics such as viscose woven fabric or lining fabric are sewn with a 60 or 70 needle. Thicker fabrics such as softshell or artificial leather are sewn with an 80 needle.
