Sewing Video Baby Pants RAS

The popular RAS baby pants are quick to sew, comfortable pants with straight legs. (Not bloomers.) Well suited for beginners! What's special about the RAS: The pattern consists of just one single piece, which is cut on the fold. The pants are only closed with a seam on the bottom; there are no seams at the front or sides. This means that they can be sewn extremely quickly from elastic fabrics such as jersey, sweat, summer sweat, modal, terry cloth or even velour. Cuffs are typically provided on the stomach and legs, but they can also be hemmed or an elastic band inserted. The RAS baby pants even offer enough space for cloth diaper bottoms and the fit can be easily adjusted to suit needs. The pattern calls for long pants, but the leg length can be shortened to 3/4 or shorts as desired. Pockets are not included in the pattern, but any type of patch pocket (e.g. bum bag) or piping pocket can be attached.

The name RAS

RAS is Indonesian and means running. The perfect name for comfortable, soft pants that allow enough freedom of movement! Even if the little ones aren't running around in them yet, they're definitely doing the "preliminary exercises" so they can soon be running around. :)

fabric consumption

For all sizes 56-68 you need 40cm of stretchy fabric.
For all sizes 74-92 you need 50cm of stretchy fabric.
If you want to hem the leg ends or sew a folded elastic tunnel, you will need more fabric at the top and bottom.
