Sewing cozy woven pants for babies
Just the right thing for kicking, rolling and crawling! The SERU baby pants have a super comfortable cut and look great. The yoke and the fake fly at the front look great. Cuffs with elasticated waistband and hem are particularly practical for everyday use and underline the feel-good character of the SERU baby pants. The pants are cut for woven fabrics. There are simply great fabrics like jeans or corduroy - now also in very soft qualities. Trendy fabrics like linen, velour and muslin are also ideal for the very little ones.
The name SERU
SERU shows us how exciting a trouser cut can be. It's no wonder that the name says it all. SERU is Indonesian and means exciting.
Sewing baby pants, even as a beginner
The SERU trousers are a great project for beginners. The details such as the yoke, cuffs and even the seam pockets are absolutely suitable for beginners. We show you exactly how to do it, especially with the step-by-step instructions. So don't hesitate and get to work on the machine. Woven fabric is an additional plus point, by the way. Fabric qualities such as light denim are very easy to sew.
The e-book takes you step by step with lots of pictures, making cutting and sewing child's play. The e-book also contains a small basic section in which common terms and sewing vocabulary are briefly explained. Printing and gluing the pattern together is also explained in detail!
Fabric recommendation:
The trouser cut is designed for woven fabrics. There are great, simple fabrics like jeans or corduroy - now also in very soft qualities, ideal for the very little ones. Of course, non-stretchy fabrics like linen, muslin, velour or poplin are also recommended.
It is best to sew the waistband and the leg ends from the same fabric as the pants. An elastic band is inserted to ensure that the waistband stays in place. Alternatively, we recommend cuff fabric for the very little ones.
Fabric consumption:
For the SERU baby pants you need the following amount of fabric (based on 140 cm fabric width plus seam allowances and buffer):
You need the following amount of material:
size 56 - 62 = 50 cm
size 68 - 74 = 60 cm
size 80 - 86 = 65 cm
size 92 - 98 = 70 cm
In all sizes
- Elastic band, 2-3 cm wide, in waist size
- matching sewing thread
- If necessary, cuffs
