The e-book contains the pattern for the MIMPI one-piece suit (DIN A4 + DIN A0) and the pattern for the MIMPI hood with ears (DIN A4 + DIN A0), each with detailed sewing instructions with many photos and adjustment options as well as practical tips for sewing.
Overall with button placket or zipper
Jumpsuit MIMPI is a casual one-piece - comfortably cut and optionally with decorative divisions. Now new in a set with a hood and funny ears! This makes MIMPI a cuddly costume for Mardi Gras and Carnival! Unicorn, dragon, llama, cat and mouse, simply animal-friendly! Divisions in the onesie are great for creating a creative fabric mix or using up a few fabric scraps. The pockets hidden in the lower, horizontal division seams are practical and smart. Overall MIMPI is either made with a button placket or closed with a zipper - just as the little one likes. MIMPI is designed for stretchy fabrics such as jersey or French terry. But cuddly qualities such as sweat or velour are also well suited as a homewear suit, as are fur and plush fabrics for a costume. This one-piece can do just about anything: casual homewear suit, cuddly overall or cozy pajamas! You can choose whether you sew the marked sections or in one piece. Depending on the thickness of the fabric, it may be advisable to choose the next larger size and use ribbed fabric for the arm and hem cuffs. This is ideal for example with Nicki or Alpine fleece if you want a really cozy jumpsuit! The instructions explain both the zipper and the button panel.
hood and funny animal ears
The hood is a great addition to the MIMPI one-piece pattern. You can optionally choose from different ears (bear, cat, rabbit), or create your own jumpsuit costume from them. We provide you with bear, cat and rabbit ears as an ingredient for a funny costume. How about a llama or a unicorn? Of course, you can also sew the hood without any ears. It will definitely be cozy in this cuddly onesie! The hood is best combined with the zipper version of MIMPI. You can of course also sew the optional divisions and the horizontal pockets on the hooded version. The MIMPI one-piece is designed for jersey. If you are using a teddy plush or similar that is not so stretchy, you should sew 2 sizes larger in width and definitely choose ribbed fabric for the ends.
There are no limits to your imagination when it comes to the animal interpretation of the hood. You can use our ear templates, modify them or draw completely new ears. A unicorn horn stuffed with stuffing is also a simple, impressive addition. A unicorn mane made of tulle or dragon spikes can easily be added to the dividing seam of the hood. You can even let them continue in the dividing seam on the back or add a tail further down. You're sure to have lots of ideas by now!
Sewing a jumpsuit - even as a beginner
In principle, MIMPI is a walk in the park, because neither the button panel - if sewn with a dividing seam - nor the zipper are difficult. Especially with our step-by-step instructions! But we have a tip if you want to sew the version with all the dividing seams: bring a little patience with you when cutting it out so that you can keep track of everything :-)
The hood is - just like the one-piece itself - really easy to sew. Especially in combination with the zipper. And the ears are a piece of cake. We'll show you everything step by step anyway, so you can just go for it. There are also video sewing instructions on the Nähfrosch YouTube channel. And what we can promise you: Lots of fun sewing! :-)
The e-book takes you step by step with lots of pictures, making cutting and sewing child's play. The e-book also contains a small basic section in which common terms and sewing vocabulary are briefly explained. Printing and gluing the pattern together is also explained in detail!
The name MIMPI
By the way, MIMPI is Indonesian and means dream. We wish your offspring sweet dreams!
Fabric recommendation:
MIMPI is designed for stretchy fabrics such as jersey or French terry. But cuddly fabrics such as sweat, terry cloth or velour are also suitable. Depending on the thickness of the fabric (eg alpine fleece), it may be advisable to choose the larger size and use ribbed fabric for the arm and hem cuffs.
You can use the same fabrics for the hood, although slightly thicker jerseys or French terry tend to be more suitable than super thin jerseys. Thicker fabrics such as teddy, faux fur or plush work particularly well for the animal look with ears .
For the MIMPI suit, you will of course need different amounts of fabric depending on the size and variant. Here is the maximum amount of fabric needed as a guide (based on 150 cm fabric width plus seam allowances and buffer):
Version without hood made of one fabric:
- size 92 - 110 = 1.40 m
- size 116 - 128 = 1.65 m,
- size 134 - 146 = 1.90 m
- size 152 - 164 = 2.10 m
Variants without hood in fabric mix (see photos):
Fabric A = striped, Fabric B = macarons, Fabric C = plain:
- Gr. 92 - 110: A 40 cm, B 80 cm, C 40 cm
- Gr. 116 - 128: A 45 cm, B 90 cm, C 50 cm
- Gr. 134 - 146: A 50cm, B 100cm, C 55cm
- Gr. 152 - 164: A 55 cm, B 110 cm, C 60 cm
Depending on the variant, you will also need:
- 45 cm ribbed fabric
- 5 - 7 (push) buttons
- Non-divisible zipper (size 92-104 = 25 cm, size 110-164 = 30 cm). Note: The zipper length corresponds to the length shown. If you want the zipper to run down to the crotch, you will need a longer zipper, please measure yourself.
For the hood you need about 45 cm more fabric in all sizes.
This means that for the basic version with a hood made of one fabric, you need a total of:
- size 92 - 110 = 1.85 m
- size 116 - 128 = 2.10 m
- size 134 - 146 = 2.35 m,
- size 152 - 164 = 2.55 m
