The e-book contains the pattern (DIN A4 and A0), detailed sewing instructions with many photos and adjustment options as well as practical sewing tips.

Sewing a Simple Cozy Jacket

The JAGA jacket is a cozy companion. With sporty cuffs and a comfortable hood, the jacket can be quickly pulled on and zipped up. The simple chin guard is a practical detail! JAGA impresses with classic pockets, as well as cuffs on the sleeves and stomach. The inside of the sweat jacket also looks great: the hood is lined, the seam is edged with a strip, just like the zipper edges. So neat and clean, and yet so simple! This classic sweat jacket should not be missing from any wardrobe, because it is essential for the "onion look"! As a jacket replacement in nice weather or as an additional warm layer, which can also be quickly removed when it is too warm inside.

You can find the pattern for the JAGA cuddly jacket as a "paper pattern" in my book "Simply Sustainable Sewing - Children's Fashion".

Sewing a practical sweat jacket - even as a somewhat experienced beginner sewer

The JAGA sweat jacket shouldn't be your very first sewing project. But as a somewhat experienced beginner, it's definitely doable! The zipper isn't rocket science, and the instructions will guide you well. Pockets, chin guard and inner finishing are optional, so you can work your way up little by little.

The e-book takes you step by step with lots of pictures, making cutting and sewing child's play. The e-book also contains a small basic section in which common terms and sewing vocabulary are briefly explained. Printing and gluing the pattern together is also explained in detail!

The name JAGA

JAGA is Indonesian and means "keep". And that's exactly what you want to do with this great sweatshirt, right?

Fabric recommendation:

JAGA is designed for slightly stretchy fabrics. The classics are sweat or French terry, of course, but you can also get a great jacket with fleece, quilted fabric, plush, jacquard knit or velour!

The best way to line the hood is with jersey so that it doesn't get too thick. Jersey is also best for the chin guard. You will also need cuffs, bias tape and cord and eyelets as desired. You will also need a separable zipper.

Fabric consumption:

For the JAGA jacket you need the following outer fabric (based on 140 cm fabric width plus seam allowances and buffer):

  • size 110–128: 100 cm
  • size 134–164: 120 cm

You will need the following inner fabric for the hood and chin guard (based on 140 cm fabric width plus seam allowances and buffer):

  • size 110–128: 40 cm
  • size 134–164: 45 cm

You also need:

  • 30 cm cuffs
  • Framilon tape for the pocket openings
  • Divisible zipper:
    • size 110–116: 35 cm
    • size 122–134: 40 cm
    • size 140–146: 45 cm
    • size 152–158: 50 cm
    • size 164: 55 cm
  • optional bias binding
  • optional cord and eyelets for hood
