Sewing a Simple Cardigan with Hood

Just slip it on and feel good - you can really snuggle up in this great cardigan. KARDIGAN is a casual basic piece with an integrated hood that goes with every style. An absolute must-have! With no fasteners and slightly dropped shoulders, the cardigan is super quick and easy to sew. KARDIGAN is sewn from stretchy fabrics such as knitwear, summer sweat or stretchy jacquard. It has slightly dropped shoulders, is slightly tailored, has an optional cuff and patch square pockets. The hood is simple and is simply sewn unlined. The length reaches over the bottom, but you can easily extend KARDIGAN to a maxi length!

A slightly longer cardigan is an absolute MUST in every wardrobe. With a cardigan like this, a T-shirt can be worn in autumn and winter in no time, and it also looks good with a dress. The sleeves are casually cut a little over the shoulder. The hood is unlined so that it doesn't pull back so heavily. You can sew cuffs made of the same material onto the sleeves (this is easier and nicer with very soft knit fabrics), or hem them.

Sewing a cardigan, even as a beginner

This pattern is very easy to sew, because thanks to the added seam allowance you only need to fold the edges accordingly. Thanks to the instructions, you will be able to sew your KARDIGAN very easily, even as a beginner.

The name KARDIGAN

"KARDIGAN" is Indonesian and means cardigan. Clearly, this cut is quite logically such a cut. KARDIGAN wraps you up on cool days, casual and trendy!

Fabric recommendation:

For the KARDIGAN cardigan, we recommend stretchy fabrics with a nice drape. It is very important that the fabric does not have too much body and is not too thick. Depending on whether you use a fine fine knit, a casual chunky knit or a jacquard knit, the cardigan will always look different. Waffle jersey, modal, interlock or summer sweat are also suitable. For fabrics that could quickly stretch or warp, such as knit fabrics, we recommend reinforcing the shoulder seams and the armhole. Flexible interlining seam tape is suitable for this.

For the KARDIGAN cardigan you need the following amount of fabric (based on 140 cm fabric width including seam allowances and buffer):

Size 98 - 116: 1.1 m
Size 122 - 140: 1.4 m
Size 146 - 164: 1.8 m
Size 170 - 176: 2 m

You also need:

• 1 m slightly elastic interlining strip, e.g. Vlieseline seam tape flexible
• color-coordinated yarn
