Sew a trendy skirt with a button placket
A soft skirt that flows wonderfully lightly around the legs - isn't that a wonderful feeling? It feels just as exhilarating barefoot in summer as it does in boots in the cold season. That's exactly why we made this pattern for light-weight woven fabrics. UDARA is available in the classic version with patch pockets at the front and back, or very simple and discreet with seam pockets. The skirt is gathered at the waistband and closed with a button strip at the front. All in all, a great eye-catcher. You can individually determine the length of your new skirt. In the e-book you will find 3 different lengths for orientation. Maybe you just treat yourself to three versions, then you don't have to decide!
It looks simply great - the UDARA skirt with waistband and patch pockets. And the back pockets are a real eye-catcher. Or would you prefer other pockets? Subtle seam pockets go wonderfully with this lightly flowing skirt, because they disappear discreetly in the side seam and don't add any bulk. And with a tie belt, your skirt gets a completely different look - casual and sporty! You are completely free to choose the length, mini, midi or maxi, what do you like best?
And the best part: UDARA is available in children's sizes and women's sizes! Skirts for everyone!
Sewing a custom button skirt, for everyone with a little experience
The UDARA skirt can be mastered by anyone who has a little sewing experience or simply feels a little more confident. And if the button panel or waistband gets a bit tricky, our detailed instructions are guaranteed to help. You will find additional information and tips on the buttonholes in the instructions.
The name UDARA
We have the perfect name for this lively favorite: UDARA is Indonesian and means air. When the skirt is blowing around your legs, you'll know why it simply cannot be called anything else.
Fabric recommendation:
Woven fabrics are best for your skirt, but stretchy fabrics are also good - soft, flowing fabrics with a nice drape work well, such as chiffon, viscose, batiste, light cotton fabrics. Linen and light denim fabrics also look great. For the autumn/winter season, you can generally go for slightly denser fabrics, but a nice drape is essential. And the fabric must be able to be gathered, otherwise the waistband will not fall as loosely.
Fabric consumption:
It's quite easy to calculate how much fabric you need for your new skirt. The following formula applies to a fabric width of 150 cm including seam allowance and buffer.
2 x desired skirt length plus 15 cm = fabric length
This means that if your skirt should have a length of 64 cm from the waist - in my case that is knee-length - then you calculate as follows:
64cm + 64cm + 15cm = 143cm
If you want to sew the maxi version, you will definitely need 2 m for all sizes.
