Wrap dresses are the perfect look for leisure or special occasions - our GAYA cut proves this. Whether as a school dress, communion dress, Christmas dress or as a leisure dress, GAYA always fits. Simple cut and at the same time wow! The wrap part is discreetly closed with a button on the sides and creates a romantic look. Choose between two long versions for the sleeves - classic narrow or moderately wide with elastic in the hem. GAYA is wonderfully summery without sleeves and a nice alternative is the cut as a wrap blouse. No matter which version you prefer, the fabric determines the look. Use flowing fabrics with a beautiful drape, e.g. shiny festive satin for a special day or cheerfully printed blouse fabric as an airy spring dress.

Sewing a school dress, Christmas dress or communion dress, even as an advanced beginner

GAYA requires less sewing experience than a delicate touch and precision. The cut is quite easy to sew, but the neckline requires special attention. It is important that the edges do not stretch, which can easily happen with bias cuts. We will show you the best way to do it.

The e-book takes you step by step with lots of pictures, making cutting and sewing child's play. The e-book also contains a small basic section in which common terms and sewing vocabulary are briefly explained. Printing and gluing the pattern together is also explained in detail!

The name GAYA

GAYA is Indonesian and means "style", and this dress has a lot of that. A stylish and feminine companion for every occasion - from delicate and airy to classically elegant.

Fabric recommendation:

For the GAYA dress, we recommend woven fabrics with a nice drape, not too stiff. The following qualities are therefore ideal: viscose woven fabrics, viscose-linen blends, crepe fabrics, jacquard, blouse fabrics or even soft velvet and satin. Of course, you can also sew GAYA in a very glamorous way using sequin fabrics or other evening wear fabrics. Cotton woven fabrics are only recommended to a limited extent; they should not be too stiff. Muslin or linen are not recommended.

Fabric consumption:

For the GAYA wrap dress you need the following amount of fabric (based on 140 cm fabric width including seam allowances and buffer):

A dress:

• size 92 - 110 = 1.30 m
• size 116 - 128 = 2.00 m
• size 134 - 146 = 2.30 m
• size 152 - 164 = 2.90 m

Blouse:

• size 92 - 110 = 1.10 m
• size 116 - 128 = 1.50 m
• size 134 - 146 = 1.70 m
• size 152 - 164 = 1.90 m

You also need:

• Matching the fabric, iron-on tape to reinforce the edges, e.g. interfacing
• Matching the fabric, iron-on fleece to reinforce the facings, e.g. Vlieseline H410
• 2 buttons (alternatively snap fasteners)
• Possibly elastic band (0.5 cm wide) for the sleeve hems
• Color-matching sewing thread
