Short sleeve hoodie for summer, for men and women!
Finally, you can wear hoodies in summer too! The unisex PINTAR hoodie with cropped, short sleeves and a single-layer hood is perfect for warm days. It impresses with a very fashionable look: casually cut, with a rounded hem and narrow cuffs. PINTAR is an absolute it-piece for summer and can be worn as sporty athleisure wear or as comfortable lounge wear for hanging out. So that this favorite piece doesn't have to stay in the closet in autumn, the width also allows for a layer underneath. This quickly transforms the short-sleeved hoodie into a second layer. We recommend light jersey qualities, slub, thin knit, French terry or elastic functional fabric. A nice, light drape and good stretchability are important. The PINTAR cut is also available for kids!
The cut itself is quite simple and quick to sew. The cut sleeves are attached directly to the front and back, and narrow strips are sewn onto the rounded hem as cuffs. Cuffs should not be used here, as otherwise the hem will roll up unattractively. The hood is designed as a single layer so that it is nice and light and does not pull backwards. Of course, it still looks neat! An optional hoodie band or cord completes the hood. Buttonholes in the light fabric are recommended for pulling through, rather than heavy eyelets! Depending on the fabric you choose, PINTAR can be a sporty piece, comfortable homewear or cool casual shirt! And if you lengthen the shirt, you get a trendy hooded dress.
Sewing a Jersey Hoodie, even as a beginner
The PINTAR summer hoodie is definitely also something for beginners. Because the cut is basically super simple. Admittedly, the hood and the hem can be a bit tricky, but there are these step-by-step instructions that explain exactly how to do it. And that means no one needs to be afraid of this cut. So, go ahead and give it a go. We're on your side!
The e-book takes you step by step with lots of pictures, making cutting and sewing child's play. The e-book also contains a small basic section in which common terms and sewing vocabulary are briefly explained. Printing and gluing the pattern together is also explained in detail!
The name PINTAR
By the way, PINTAR is Indonesian and means “clever”. We think it’s really clever that we can now inspire hoodie fans even when the temperatures are high.
Fabric recommendation:
The PINTAR hoodie looks best in comfortable and stretchy fabrics. We recommend light jersey, slub, thin knit, French terry or elastic functional fabric. A nice, light drape and good stretchability are important.
Note: The cuffs on the sleeves and hem are sewn from the same fabric as the hoodie itself. Classic cuffs are simply unsuitable for this light summer piece.
Fabric consumption:
For the PINTAR hoodie you need the following amounts of fabric (based on 150 cm fabric width plus seam allowances and buffer):
- Size XS - M = 1.70 m
- Size L - XL = 1.75 m
- Size XXL - XXXL = 1.80 m
Additional materials:
- Eyelets and cord for the hood (if desired)
- and if necessary interfacing or Wonderdots for reinforcement
