Sewing a stylish woven dress with many options

Elegant sheath dress for special occasions or casual leisure dress! KINI is a classic A-line dress, femininely tailored, with a swinging skirt and beautiful detail on the neckline at the front. The KINI dress enchants not only the wearer, but also everyone who catches a glimpse of it. The highlight: you can choose the shape and depth of the neckline individually. Whether it's a round neck, a variable deep V-neck or a cheeky slit is up to you. And you can also choose between different sleeve and dress lengths. Suitable fabrics include linen, twill, poplin, possibly shirt and suit fabrics, flannel, light jeans. Or velvet or a light, fine corduroy, because the fabric should have a little bit of body and not be too flowing. Depending on the fabric you choose, KINI is a stylish all-rounder for every occasion!

Whether it's a summery casual dress or an elegant sheath dress with long sleeves for a formal look, KINI can do it all. Sewing a classic A-line dress, even if you are a somewhat experienced seamstress

KINI is admittedly a bit of a challenge, but we will master it together. We have put together a great step-by-step guide for you that explains every trick. Of course, it would be an advantage if you have sewn one or two pieces before - but it is not a requirement.

The e-book takes you step by step with lots of pictures, making cutting and sewing child's play. The e-book also contains a small basic section in which common terms and sewing vocabulary are briefly explained. Printing and gluing the pattern together is also explained in detail!

The name KINI

KINI is Indonesian and means NOW. When if not now is the best time for this beautiful feminine cut, right?

Fabric recommendation:

For the KINI dress, we recommend woven fabric with a nice drape, but the material should not be too thin or too flowing. A little "body" suits the dress really well. Therefore, the following qualities are ideal: linen, twill, poplin, possibly shirt and suit fabrics, flannel, light jeans. Or velvet or a light, fine corduroy. Viscose, muslin, flowing satin and flowing light blouse fabrics are not recommended.

Fabric consumption:

For the KINI dress you need the following amounts of fabric (based on 140 cm fabric width or 150 cm for sizes 52-56 plus seam allowances and buffer):

• size 34-38 = 2.60m
• size 40-50 = 2.65 m
• size 52-56 = 3.25 m

For the short sleeve version you need about 20 cm less fabric.

You also need:

• zipper (40 cm long)
• If necessary, interfacing for reinforcement
