Classic wrap dress
Show off your best features elegantly with a classic wrap dress. The wrap look in the top creates a slim waist, while the top and skirt are cut to hug the figure. BELIT is suitable for everyday wear with a top underneath and the fake wrap version offers "security", even if the kids pull on the tie. The loose sleeves are gathered together at the hem with a narrow elastic band and give the otherwise simple dress a playful touch. BELIT is made of warm, softly falling fine knit fabrics and jacquard knit in the cooler months, but also cuts a fine figure in flowing viscose jersey in warmer temperatures. Softly falling, not too stiff fabrics that gently drape around the body are important.
Sewing a wrap dress, even as an ambitious beginner
Thanks to the attached facing for the wrap neckline, this pattern is also easy for beginners to make - maybe not as a first piece, but if you've sewn a shirt before, you'll definitely be able to make this dress.
The name BELIT
BELIT is Indonesian and means "wrap". The wrap on this dress is conveniently only suggested and is created by the overlap of both front pieces.
Fabric recommendation:
The best fabrics for the dress are stretchy fabrics with a nice drape, such as (fine) knit fabrics, jersey, viscose jersey, stretchy jacquard, cupro or other elastic dress fabrics.
Fabric consumption:
For the BELIT wrap dress you need the following amount of fabric (based on 140 cm fabric width including seam allowances and buffer):
Size XS, S, M: 1.80 m
Size L, XL: 2.50 m
Size XXL: 2.60 m
You also need:
- 1 m slightly elastic ironable interlining strip, 1 cm wide
- 70 - 80 cm iron-on interfacing for stretch fabrics, 90 cm width
- 1.50 m elastic band, 0.4 cm wide
