sewing a parka

We love parkas! They keep us warm and dry and are stylish. The CUACA jacket is a hit all year round - especially if you choose a water-repellent and windproof fabric. How about oilskin, for example? We provide the right details for this all-rounder: hood, drawstring waist and hem, practical button placket with overlap and patch pockets with flaps. Have you got a taste for it yet? Then join us on this great sewing adventure for your new great companion CUACA. How to sew the jacket is described in detail in these instructions. This way, everything is guaranteed to work out - including sewing in the zipper and sewing the hood.

Sewing a jacket, even as a somewhat advanced sewer

Want to sew a sporty jacket yourself? It's not rocket science. We promise! We'll guide you step by step with our instructions. All you need to bring is a little sewing experience and maybe a little patience. Then it's sure to be a great sewing experience! We look forward to seeing you.

The e-book takes you step by step with lots of pictures, making cutting and sewing child's play. The e-book also contains a small basic section in which common terms and sewing vocabulary are briefly explained. Printing and gluing the pattern together is also explained in detail!

The name CUACA

"CUACA" is Indonesian and means "weather". How fitting for a jacket that can be used in any weather. The next rain will definitely not be able to harm you!

Fabric recommendation:

We recommend non-stretchy material for the jacket. This includes oilskin, corduroy, jeans and other jacket fabrics. Water-repellent and windproof fabrics are ideal. The lining should also not be stretchy. You can use flannel or canvas for this. Poplin is also suitable as a thin lining. When it comes to the lining, make sure that you use a lining material on the arms that slides. This is an advantage for easy access to the arms. The front and back sections as well as the hood can be sewn in a less slippery lining.

Fabric consumption:

For the CUACA jacket you need the following amount of fabric (based on 140 cm fabric width including seam allowances and buffer):

Outer fabric:
Size XS, S, M: 2.20 m
Size L, XL: 2.60 m
Size XXL: 3.00 m

Food:
Size XS, S, M: 2.00 m
Size L, XL: 2.60 m
Size XXL: 2.90 m

Facing strip outer fabric:
Sizes XS, S, M, L, XL, XXL - 0.10 m

1 divisible zipper:
Size XS - M: 70 cm
Size L - XXL: 75 cm

You also need:

  • 1 m interlining strip, 1 cm wide
  • 8 large eyelets (diameter 11mm)
  • 7 snap fasteners
  • 5 m cord or ribbon for drawstrings (hood, waist, hem)
  • Color-matching sewing thread
