Sewing a warm cape to wear over your head

If a piece of clothing becomes a natural everyday companion, then it is guaranteed to be a feel-good piece. And the LAYAK cape is exactly that. You grab the cape and immediately feel comfortable and cozily wrapped up. Especially now, when everything needs to be aired all the time, a cape like this to throw on is immensely practical! It doesn't really matter whether it's the version with a button placket and hood or the simple poncho slip-on version with a slit at the front. Both are absolute feel-good pieces and can be spiced up even more with the kangaroo pocket.

Whether as a "jacket" or as a "sweater" for indoors, you are perfectly dressed with the LAYAK cape. You can choose between the version with a full-length button panel and hood, which can be put on like a jacket. Or you can sew a slip-on poncho with a slit at the neckline, which guarantees that you can slip it on comfortably. Adjustments in width or length are of course explained in the instructions as always.

"It's worth it" - that's the translation of the Indonesian word LAYAK. A description that fits perfectly with this beautiful cape, right?

Fabric recommendation:

Coat and jacket fabrics and wool fabrics such as wool bouclé, coat fleece, felted cloth, etc. are suitable for the LAYAK cape. Fleece, teddy and alpine fleece are also very cosy. Softshell and similarly firm materials are less suitable, as they lack the feel-good character for the rather soft cape.

Fabric consumption:

Here is the maximum fabric consumption as a guide if you sew LAYAK uniformly from one fabric (based on 150 cm fabric width plus seam allowances and buffer).
For both variants you need the following amount of fabric:

Size XS - M = 2.70 m
Size L - XL = 2.85 m
Size XXL - XXXL = 3.00 m

Depending on the variant, you will also need:

• interfacing
• buttons
