The Matahari sports set is the perfect sportswear for children. If you use swimwear Lycra with UV protection, it protects against too much sun at home or on holiday. Made of functional fabrics such as Lycra, it can be worn in sports lessons, during hobbies or when skiing! The set consists of a raglan shirt (short and long sleeves) and slim-cut knee-length swim shorts/cycling shorts with an elastic waistband.

The Matahari sports set for children consists of a raglan shirt with a wide neckband, optional division in the front and short or long sleeves. The corresponding cutting lines and a cuff template are included in the pattern. The set also includes a slim-cut knee-length pair of swim shorts with an elastic waistband in a "cycling shorts look".

How to make size and length adjustments to the pattern is described in the e-book. The instructions are well illustrated and very detailed. This pattern is suitable for those who are somewhat experienced sewers. Ideally, you should have sewn items of clothing before. The patterns themselves are straightforward, but Lycra is a material that can quickly overwhelm a beginner!

The name MATAHARI

MATAHARI is Indonesian and means "the sun" in English. Literally translated, it even means "eye of the day". There is no more fitting name for UV clothing, is there?

Fabric recommendation:

The Matahari sports set is specially designed for stretchy functional fabrics such as Lycra.

When buying swimwear with UV protection, make sure that the Lycra used has UV protection. The use of special swim elastic in the waistband is highly recommended. This is not coated and can withstand the extreme stress of salt/chlorine water and sunlight.

For sportswear, normal elastic can be used. The neckband can also be shortened. (But with a high neckband, it's a great shirt for skiing!) The inserts on the front can also be sewn from mesh fabrics, for example.

Fabric consumption:

The front part of the shirt up to size 122 fits perfectly on a 50 cm high panel with a 3 cm hem allowance. In size 128, the front part of the shirt just about fits without hem allowance. You would then have to add something for the hem or make a cuff.

Fabric consumption for a fabric width of 150 cm including 1 cm seam allowance and 3 cm hem:
Pants size 92 - 110: 40 cm
Shirt long sleeves size 92 – 110: 60 cm
Shirt short sleeves size 92 – 110: 60 cm

Pants size 116 – 140: 55 cm
Shirt long sleeves size 116 – 140: 120 cm
Shirt short sleeves size 116 – 140: 100 cm

Pants size 146 – 164: 60 cm
Shirt long sleeves size 146 – 164: 120 cm
Shirt short sleeves size 116 – 140: 100 cm
