Conscious sewing also includes the sewing thread! The quality sewing thread rPET from Gütermann is made from 100% recycled PET bottles, i.e. recycled polyester. The sewing thread is durable and has excellent sewing properties.

The collected PET bottles are washed, shredded into flakes and melted. Microfilaments, the basis of the sewing thread, are then extracted from the granulate. Using Micro Core Technology®, a unique spinning process, these microfilaments are then used to produce the rPET yarn. One PET drinks bottle produces around 1,000 m of rPET sew-all thread or 300 m of rPET decorative stitch thread! This saves resources. The spools for the rPET sewing threads are made from 100% polystyrene (PS) and must be disposed of in the plastic waste. They are then fed into the recycling cycle.
