Sewing Video Shirt PERAN
Sewing a classic turtleneck shirt
Warm on the neck and very fashionable - these are two convincing arguments for this great basic piece. The PERAN turtleneck shirt has a figure-hugging, tailored cut so that it can be combined very well, and offers two collar solutions - the simple high collar and the turtleneck that can be folded over.
The turtleneck cut is designed for stretchy fabrics. Jersey and ribbed jersey work great, for example, but you can also sew PERAN chicly from fine knits or light viscose fabrics. And how you combine PERAN is of course up to you - anything from casual to elegant is possible. You get a sporty look if you sew the shirt from functional fabrics. Then you have a practical companion for sport. You can also sew PERAN in crop length and short sleeves - combined with a blouse underneath, it also looks great.
A turtleneck shirt looks great, for example under a cool quilted vest! Would you prefer a simple collar, a kind of "stand-up collar", or a classic high turtleneck that you can fold over? The PERAN pattern includes both versions. You can also choose between long and short sleeves and a cropped version (not for the men's cut). PERAN is so quick to sew, you can easily and quickly fill up your autumn/winter wardrobe with this classic but modern cut.
Sewing a basic shirt, even as a beginner
The PERAN shirt is really quick and easy to sew. Even beginners don't need any instructions after a short time :-)
The name PERAN
PERAN is Indonesian and means roll. Since the turtleneck is the central element of this favorite piece, it fits perfectly.
Fabric recommendation:
To ensure that the PERAN shirt fits over the head, it needs to be elastic. Jersey or ribbed jersey is ideal. Great alternatives are viscose jersey, light knit fabrics and (sports) Lycra. French terry or sweat are not suitable as they are not elastic enough for such a close-fitting garment.
Fabric consumption:
For the PERAN shirt you need different amounts of fabric. Here are some guidelines for the long-sleeved version with a high collar (based on 140 cm fabric width plus seam allowances and buffer):
size 110 - 122 = 0.80 m
size 128 - 140 = 1.15 m
size 146 - 152 = 1.25 m
size 158 - 164 = 1.35 m
