Simple woven dress

The CANTIK dress is lively and cool at the same time! A trendy, casual, wide dress that is easy to sew and very versatile. Choose between the "one-piece" version or a wide skirt part that is ruffled. The optional ruffle on the sleeve gives the dress a playful touch and makes it something special despite its simplicity. A small slit is sewn into the middle of the back of the neckline, which is closed with a loop and button. Depending on which woven fabric you choose for the dress, you get a very different look! It can be simple and down-to-earth in light jeans or linen, fairy-like light in batiste or viscose and a festive piece in fine twill, satin or lace. A sewing video on the Nähfrosch YouTube channel supports you in addition to the illustrated instructions.

Sew a dream dress - even as a sewing beginner

You can make the CANTIK dress even if you're a beginner at sewing. Depending on the fabric you've chosen, a little sewing experience is helpful. (Linen or poplin are very useful!) But with these step-by-step instructions, even the details like the teardrop closure and the gathered skirt are child's play. There's also a practical sewing video on the Nähfrosch YouTube channel to help you with this!

The name CANTIK

Pretty and beautiful - two words that can be used to translate the Indonesian name CANTIK. It fits perfectly with this beautiful dress!

Fabric recommendation:

The CANTIK dress is designed for woven fabrics. Woven fabrics such as linen, poplin, cretonne, tencel, flannel, muslin or seersucker are ideal. Viscose, chiffon, batiste, lace and light twill or denim fabrics also look great.

For the CANTIK dress, you will of course need different amounts of fabric depending on the variant. Here are some key figures for orientation (based on 140 cm fabric width plus seam allowances and buffer):

Fabric consumption for version with attached skirt, without sleeve ruffle:

• Size 110 – 134: 150 cm fabric
• Size 140 – 164: 1.80 cm fabric

Fabric consumption for one-piece version, with sleeve ruffle:

• Size 110 – 134: 150 cm fabric
• Size 140 – 164: 2.20 cm fabric

Additional material

• 20 cm iron-on interfacing matching the fabric for the facing, e.g. Vlieseline G700, G405 or H410
• 15 cm hat elastic or a hair tie
• 1 button
