Sewing trendy parachute pants - really easy
Baggy pants with a low waist in the 90s style are a real IT piece! You can now sew the trendy puffy parachute pants really easily. Typical of parachute pants: casual look with elastic in the low-waist waist and ultra-wide legs that are pulled together tightly at the hem. Darts in the knee area provide volume and shape in the right place while still making these "jogging pants 2.0" very comfortable. Optional pockets with flaps that you can place freely create the cargo pants look. The PARASUT pants are usually made of light nylon, but you can also be trendy with light rain jacket fabric or even twill - and get weatherproof pants! PARASUT is a great idea as mud pants or rain pants, especially for little ones. The PARASUT pattern will soon be available for women too!
Who has the Spice Girls and Britney on their minds now? The shiny parachute pants are back! In keeping with the 90s trend, or rather the Y2K fashion trend, baggy pants with elastic and a hip fit are back. And the comfortable jogging pants 2.0 are super easy to sew, we've made sure of that with our detailed instructions. We're also cheating a little and have opted for a fake fly on the pants. This gives the pants a classic look, but is much easier and quicker to sew, and the practical elastic waistband ensures a good fit and maximum comfort. Optional pockets with or without flaps that can be placed anywhere turn the trendy item into cargo pants in no time. The PARASUT pull-on pants are also incredibly practical for little ones as rain pants or mud pants!
Sewing fashionable parachute pants, even as a beginner
Anyone can master the PARASUT pants. We'll show you all the tricks you need with our step-by-step instructions. You don't even need to be afraid of the details. It's easier than it looks. And once you've done it, you won't want to stop!
The e-book takes you step by step with lots of pictures, making cutting and sewing child's play. The e-book also contains a small basic section in which common terms and sewing vocabulary are briefly explained. Printing and gluing the pattern together is also explained in detail!
The name PARASUT
The name PARASUT is Indonesian and means "parachute". Parachute pants are usually made from a very similar parachute material.
Fabric recommendation:
Nylon qualities and fabrics that stand for a casual look are typical for the PARASUT pants. Parachute pants are named after the parachute-like material. They are usually made from nylon or a very similar fabric. Light rain jacket fabrics or trench coat fabrics are also suitable. The pants can of course also be made from other qualities (e.g. tactel, twill, jeans, corduroy) - the important thing is that the casual look is maintained. Thicker rain jacket fabric is ideal for outdoor and mud pants.
Fabric consumption:
For the PARASUT trousers you need the following amounts of fabric (based on 140 cm fabric width plus seam allowances and buffer):
- size 92 - 104 = 1.00 m
- size 110 - 122 = 1.15 m
- size 128 - 140 = 1.30 m
- size 146 - 152 = 1.35 m
- size 158 - 164 = 1.90 m
Additional material:
Depending on the processing of the waistband and hem, you will also need:
- 3 cm wide elastic for waist (approx. 80 cm)
- 1 cm wide elastic for hem (approx. 40 cm)
- cord for the tunnel (1.20 m)
- possibly cord stoppers matching the cord thickness (3 - 6 pieces)
- 6 eyelets matching the cord thickness
