Sewing a Practical Basket
Whether for bread rolls, fruit or small items - a cord basket like this can be used in many different ways. Depending on the nature of the cord, you can create very individual designs - making it a real eye-catcher in your own home. But such baskets are also ideal as gifts.
In this tutorial you will learn how to sew a simple cord basket. There are also two additional versions - with an integrated handle - also made of cord and with attached handles.
Sewing cord baskets, even as a beginner
It's not so easy to classify the sewing level for the TALI cord basket. Basically, it only consists of a simple cord. However, sewing the handles may be more difficult for some people. Nevertheless, we are convinced that every sewing enthusiast can manage this project - with our instructions, it will definitely work!
The name TALI
By the way, TALI is Indonesian and means "cord".
material
First and foremost, you need a cord - lots of cord. Depending on how big your TALI basket is to be, the amount you need varies. IMPORTANT: Use a cord that has a core or soul. This will help your cord basket to stand up better. If your cord doesn't have a core, you're not sewing a basket, but a table mat.
The consumption is based on a cord with a diameter of 6 mm. If you use a thicker cord, your consumption will change accordingly. The same applies to a thinner cord - then you will of course need more.
Consumption for 6mm cord with core: Small basket = 6 meters, Medium basket = 8 meters, Large basket = 10 meters
