sewing a puff sleeve shirt
Puff sleeve top with a deep round neckline and slim fit - the TRENDI shirt is a chic basic! The figure-hugging but not too tight T-shirt looks just as great with a skirt as it does with jeans - a real all-rounder and absolutely trendy. And it can be worn as a half-sleeved top in hot summer or as a long-sleeved shirt on cool evenings. The comfortable basic TRENDI shirt with the beautifully accentuated shoulder can be sewn with neck cuffs or easily hemmed. For your half-sleeved T-shirt or long-sleeved shirt with puff sleeves, it is best to use stretchy fabrics. Thin jerseys, such as viscose jerseys, are of course ideal - especially for summer months. For cooler temperatures, you can also use waffle jerseys, knitwear or French terry.
Totally basic, but with that certain something! The TRENDI shirt with cute puff sleeves is a very simple top, but the accentuated shoulders make it something special. The shirt is super easy to sew with long or half sleeves (above the elbow). The slim, but not too tight cut and the deep neckline make TRENDI an absolute favorite. You can sew TRENDI with a bound neckline, or work a cuff and optionally sew on a super neat "nerd stripe." Both look great!
Sewing a puff sleeve top, even as a beginner
Anyone can master the TRENDI shirt. We'll show you all the tricks you need with our step-by-step instructions. You don't even need to be afraid of the puff sleeve. It's easier than it looks. And once you've done it, you won't want to stop!
The e-book takes you step by step with lots of pictures, making cutting and sewing child's play. The e-book also contains a small basic section in which common terms and sewing vocabulary are briefly explained. Printing and gluing the pattern together is also explained in detail!
The name TRENDI
The name TRENDI is Indonesian and means fashionable. There could hardly be a better name for such a trendy item.
Fabric recommendation:
To be honest, jersey is the best material for the TRENDI shirt. High-quality materials such as cotton jersey, jersey made from Tencel/Lyoncell, cotton-bamboo blends or even merino wool jersey are ideal. In addition to cotton jersey, jersey fabrics made from other fibers such as silk or viscose are also suitable. Ribbed jersey or waffle jersey gives the shirt a great look! Thin, stretchy French terry qualities, jacquard knit and not too soft fine knit also work well.
Fabric consumption:
For the TRENDI shirt you need the following amounts of fabric (based on 140 cm fabric width plus seam allowances and buffer):
TRENDI long sleeve
- size 34 - 38 = 135 cm
- size 40 - 44 = 145 cm
- size 46 - 50 = 150 cm
- size 52 - 56 = 160 cm
TRENDI half-sleeve
- size 34 - 38 = 90 cm
- size 40 - 44 = 100 cm
- size 46 - 50 = 110 cm
- size 52 - 56 = 160 cm
You also need:
- Thin cuff fabric or jersey strip for the neckline
- Interlining to reinforce the shoulder seams in knitwear, if necessary. If it matches your fabric, e.g. H 609
