The JALAN dungarees or dungaree shorts are a fashion highlight with their own unique charm. These favorite pants in the style of the 90s provide the perfect casual, cool look for everyday life: comfortably cut, short or long, with pockets or patch pockets and many strap options. Whether playfully knotted on the shoulder, classically buttoned (or knotted) at the front, or with summery spaghetti straps - it all depends on your taste. With a tie belt and belt loops, the practical pants get a jumpsuit look. JALAN is a year-round companion, short or long. Whether you wear a shirt, crop top, blouse or sweater underneath, this romper can be combined in many different ways. JALAN is sewn from light woven fabrics such as poplin, linen, muslin, eyelet embroidery or light denim and corduroy.

Anyone can do JALAN - especially with these step-by-step instructions. We've put together all the tricks for you. You don't have to start with the most difficult version. To get started, we recommend the dungarees with tied straps and patch pockets.

The name JALAN

JALAN is Indonesian and means street. This fits with the preference of Indonesians who like jalan-jalan = walking. We bet you'll love strolling through the summer in these overalls?

Fabric recommendation:

Light woven fabrics are ideal for the JALAN dungarees. Cotton, linen, muslin, Romanit, eyelet embroidery or light denim and corduroy. Anything that falls lightly and allows movement. A little stretch can't hurt, of course, but the fabrics shouldn't be really stretchy.

Fabric consumption:

For the JALAN dungarees you need the following amounts of fabric depending on the variant (based on 140 cm fabric width plus seam allowances and buffer):

Long version:

• size 34-38 = 2.50 m
• size 40-44 = 2.80 m
• size 46-50 = 3.20 m
• size 52-56 = 3.80 m

Short version:
