Sewing summer dungarees - really easy
The MOYO jumpsuit for babies is a stylish one-piece in a comfortable loose fit that gives you that real summer feeling. Comfortable, wide-cut dungarees with delicate spaghetti straps that can be tied. The straps on the sleeveless overalls also serve as edging strips for the armholes. How practical! A nice detail on the playsuit is the ruffled neckline at the front and back. Alternatively, a box pleat can be worked here. The romper cut makes it very easy at the hem - simply hemmed, gathered with narrow elastic or with hem cuffs. In terms of fabric, lightweights are ideal for the MOYO cut - from muslin to blouse fabrics, linen or poplin, woven fabrics are in demand in any case!
Sewing a light jumpsuit romper, even as a beginner
MOYO is child's play. The cut is super easy because it doesn't have a classic crotch seam. The only tricky part is the straps, which also form the edging of the armhole. We'll show you step by step how you can master this, even as a beginner.
The e-book takes you step by step with lots of pictures, making cutting and sewing child's play. The e-book also contains a small basic section in which common terms and sewing vocabulary are briefly explained. Printing and gluing the pattern together is also explained in detail!
The name MOYO
The name MOYO is inspired by a small Indonesian island with white sandy beaches and great diving spots. The perfect ambience for such a jumpsuit.
Fabric recommendation:
The MOYO jumper is designed for light woven fabrics. Summery, light qualities such as muslin, viscose woven fabrics and other blouse fabrics, but also linen (mixture), poplin, or light(!) denim and corduroy are suitable for the baby romper .
Fabric consumption:
For the MOYO jumpsuit you need the following amounts of fabric (based on 140 cm fabric width plus seam allowances and buffer):
- size 56 - 68 = 1.15 m
- size 74 - 86 = 1.25 m
- size 92 - 98 = 1.35 m
Additional material:
Depending on the processing, you will also need:
- Depending on the fabric, you may need interfacing for reinforcement, matching your fabric e.g. G405
- Optional elastic band for the leg hem, approx. 40 cm in 0.5 - 1 cm width
- Optional finished bias tape for edging and straps: Size 56 - 80 = 2= 2.30 m86 - 98 = 2.10 m . This only slightly reduces the amount of fabric required - because you still need the height.
