Lightweight raglan baby jacket with side button placket
This baby cut will delight moms and dads, because the offspring is perfectly wrapped up thanks to the high neckline - especially on cooler days. And the little ones will also feel right at home in the slim-cut baby jacket with raglan sleeves. The button placket on the side means nothing presses - neither when sleeping, sitting or playing. And the best thing: TAMAT can be worn either as a shirt that is easy to put on and take off, or as a jacket with something underneath.
The name TAMAT
TAMAT is not only a cute name, but we think it also fits perfectly. TAMAT is Indonesian and means "over". Perfect for a Jack, right?
Sewing baby jackets, even as a beginner
Of course, a button panel like this can be a bit tricky, especially with stretchy fabrics. But we'll show you what you need to pay attention to and give you the right tips. Then the pattern will be child's play to sew.
The e-book takes you step by step with lots of pictures, making cutting and sewing child's play. The e-book also contains a small basic section in which common terms and sewing vocabulary are briefly explained. Printing and gluing the pattern together is also explained in detail!
Fabric recommendation:
We recommend stretchy fabrics and ideally materials that are not too thin. We think jersey, sweat, French terry, jacquard and knitwear are great qualities. For the little ones, look for high-quality materials such as cotton jersey, jersey made from Tencel/Lyoncell, cotton-bamboo blends or even merino wool jersey. The cuffs are best sewn from cuff fabric. You may also need some iron-on interfacing and buttons or snap fasteners.
Fabric consumption:
For the TAMAT jacket you need the following amounts of fabric (based on 150 cm fabric width plus seam allowances and buffer):
56 -62 = 40 cm
68 - 74 = 45 cm
80 - 86 = 50 cm
92 - 98 = 55 cm
Also available in all sizes:
- - To reinforce the button panel e.g. Vlieseline H609
- - Cuff fabric for the cuffs
- - Thin cuff fabric or jersey strip for the button placket
- - Snap fasteners for the button panel. The small Prym jersey snap fasteners with 8-10 mm have proven to be useful here .
